Memorial Day Weekend in Hartwell
Saturday trip up to Hartwell to see the festivities taking place for Memorial Day Weekend. A car show was being held in Hartwell along with a service for the Veterans. It was a beautiful day on Lake Hartwell and the surrounding area. The Hartwell Dam is such an impressive engineering accomplishment. Pictures taken on Saturday, May 28th, 2016
The Hartwell Dam
The Hartwell Dam was built on the Savannah River in 1962 by the Army Corps of Engineers. Hart County, GA & Anderson County, SC have done a great job making this a scenic area and a park to attract visitors. The Hartwell Dam 10K is one of the coolest races in GA/SC. You start of on the Georgia side and run down the road into South Carolina and then back across the dam. You'll get a great view of Lake Hartwell & the Savannah River. In my opinion, this is the 3rd toughest 10K in the area, behind the Torture Trail 10K in Eatonton and the Marigold 10K in Winterville.
