December 6th, 2015 - Went up the road to Fort Yargo in Winder, Georgia. This state park has a about 7-8 mile loop around the lake. The actual Fort Yargo was built in the 1700s and was used to protect the locals from attacks.. The park is well used by hikers, cyclists, fishermen and campers.
Powered Parachute over Bethlehem, GA
May 29th, 2015 - I came across this by accident... I was at a movie theater in Bethlehem, GA (Near Winder on HWY 316) and noticed this flying object circling the area. I took pictures of the flyby and was fortunate to meet the pilot, who landed near the area. I found out that it is a experimental aircraft that he made and calls a "Powered Parachute". The pilot showed me the aircraft and told me some interesting stories about his flights around the area. A couple of key takeaways from his stories: 1) You can really notice the deer population when you are flying over a field, 2) Golfers do not like the golf course flyovers and 3) For some reason, it is common for people on Lake Lanier to climb up on their houseboats and moon the powered parachute.
